Across classrooms, courtrooms, clinics, and communities, people are being asked to carry more than they were ever prepared for. You’re expected to improve outcomes, manage difficult behavior, support the people around you, and keep things moving forward. But when the tools you have only address what’s happening on the surface, the same problems keep coming back.
The St. Clair Butterfly Foundation was created to change that. We believe behavior is often the visible part of a much deeper story, and that unresolved trauma can shape how people think, feel, respond, and connect. Our work goes deeper than awareness or behavior management to address what is happening beneath the surface and give you practical tools to create lasting change.
SCBF was founded by Chip and Lisa St. Clair, whose own experiences with trauma led them to ask a different question. What if understanding trauma isn’t enough? What if people and the systems supporting them need better tools to actually do something about it?
Their journey through trauma, adversity, resilience, and healing became the foundation for The Butterfly Garden and ultimately for the St. Clair Butterfly Foundation. Along the way, they discovered something that continues to shape everything we do. Awareness alone doesn’t change outcomes. Tools do.
That belief is at the heart of SCBF. We bring lived experience together with neuroscience, expressive arts, and practical application to help you address trauma at its root. Not with another program to add to your workload, but with tools designed to become part of the environments where people actually live, learn, work, and heal.
SCBF is a team united by a simple belief. People are capable of more than what happened to them, and the right support can help them get there.
We bring different experiences, expertise, and perspectives to the work, but we share the same commitment to meeting you where you are, understanding the realities you face, and helping you find practical ways forward.
Tell us what you’re seeing, what isn’t working, and what you want to change.
We’ll help you find the right tools to move forward.
